Movies that are a must see
03/23/10 12:41 AM

So chatting with my younger coworkers I found out that a lot of them haven't seen classic moves such as Ghostbusters, Goonies, Nightmare on Elm Street, Jurassic Park, and E.T.

What are some movies that you believe are a must see? I would like to compile a list so that when I have kids they won't grow up so deprived.

Classics HMMMMMmmmmmm......
Just about all the early John Hughes movies. Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, Some kind of Wonderful.

Then we move into the John Hughes wannabees, Valley Girl, Can't Buy me Love, etc..

The Blockbusters - Jaws, First 3 star wars, Indiana Jones and the such and such, Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind, Aliens

Horror - John Carpenter's The Thing, Alien, The Fly, Rosemary's Baby

Classic Sci Fi- Logan's Run, Soylent Green, Silent Running

Wait, are these "must see because they are good movies" or are they "must see to understand the cultural significance" type movies? Or both?

Can you rank them?

I think out of the animated (non-CG) Disney movies, Aladdin takes #1.

#1! I'm surprised!

Peter Pan was always in the top for me. And Jungle Book.
