Article from Nature.com describing observations made by Rachel Grant of the Open University in Milton Keynes, UK. While studying toad reproduction, she noticed the animals ominously disappeared from their usual breeding grounds, abandoning their usual spawning ritual 5 days prior to an earthquake in L'Aquila, Italy in April 2009.

From the article: "The team suspect the strange toad behaviour was triggered by pre-seismic perturbations in the ionosphere, which were detected by very low frequency radio sounding."

Personally, if I knew an earthquake was on it's way, I think I'd rather stay in the breeding grounds and live my last today days to their fullest.
